Lower-Level Family Living in Lower Gwynedd
Project Overview
Our clients knew their basement had lots of potential. They wanted to transform it into a space where they could entertain, watch movies, have a craft area, all with a powder room on the lower level for convenience. They also needed a place for their workouts and equipment with sufficient room so it wouldn’t feel cramped. They also needed to preserve some of the space for storage and a place for their wine collection.
Design Process
In the main entertaining space, there’s seating at a smaller counter in front of the big screen, while there’s room for more at the pub-style wet bar, which features cabinetry for storage, and under-counter refrigerator and kegerator. There’s a craft area for the kids, with a full wall of blackboard to let their chalk art creativity flow. There’s a finished play space under the stairs, and wine is stored in an unfinished area.
