Harleysville Kitchen, Dining Room & Mudroom Transformation

Project Overview

The owner of this Harleysville home wanted to update her space with a fresh look, added conveniences, and a kitchen built for the fabulous home chef she is. As an avid entertainer often hosting groups of friends, she also requested a layout with open spaces, lots of seating, and a welcoming feel.

Finally, our client hoped to add a mudroom just inside the door — a place to hang wet clothes and equipment without lugging them into the house, with a pet wash station to keep their adorable dog, Pickles, clean as a (dog) whistle.

DESIGN Process

The first step in this project was to reallocate space to better fit this family’s needs. In the existing layout, a walk-in pantry was located between the kitchen and living room, and the powder room was near the entrance by the garage. With plans in place for lots of cabinets, drawers, and other storage areas in the kitchen, our Custom Craft team suggested moving the powder room to where the walk-in pantry was. This would not only be more convenient and logical for guests but would also free up the space near the entrance for a mudroom.

In addition to a more centrally located powder room, guests now enjoy ample seating around the dining room table and the new table connected to the center island. Furthermore, they can easily help themselves to a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in the expansive beverage center, where gorgeous glass cabinets extend down to the countertop and display favorite stemware and mugs. Custom wood detailing can be found on the counter of the beverage station, the legs of the center island table, and as trim around the built-in range hood. Beautifully refinished floors and freshly upgraded matching stairway and railing create a cohesive, stunning look throughout the first floor.
