Our client had recently purchased a beautiful 1930’s stone home in Jeffersonville, but their kitchen and laundry room did not fit their lifestyle. They desired a more functional layout with a larger space, enhanced storage, and a true mudroom with the same finishes as the kitchen. They were referred to Custom Craft by one of our valued long-time clients.
These homeowners were extremely pleased with the renovation and they love spending time in their new space. Check out our design process below, and don’t miss the before and after photos!
To achieve our client’s goal of having a more spacious kitchen, we moved the laundry room to the second floor and leveraged that space to enlarge the kitchen’s footprint with a mudroom with sink and storage. We had to “build up” the floor since the rooms were different levels. This allowed us to enclose the full depth refrigerator and add a lovely beverage center.
Additionally, there was an unused stairway next to the main stairs, so we created a wonderful pantry in the kitchen and a storage closet upstairs. We relocated and enlarged the doorway into the dining room for a more casual entertaining and a better flow between rooms. The old laundry room is now a charming butler’s pantry/mudroom in the same finishes as the kitchen.
Some of the modern finishes we used included luxury vinyl flooring, custom painted cabinetry done in “Glacier”, Calacatta Botanica Quartz countertops and window sills.
“The Custom Craft team did an amazing job of renovating the kitchen/pantry of our 80 year old home to a functional, beautiful space from design to finish. Opening our walled off kitchen into the dining room has created improved flow for entertaining with lots of natural light. The icing on the cake: moving our washer and dryer from the previous first floor laundry room to a new, convenient space on the second floor.
Thanks to everyone on the Custom Craft Team for a great job!”
