Project Overview

This Lansdale kitchen remodel transformed an awkward layout into a more functional space for an active family of four. The existing island sat in the path to the dining room, forcing the family to walk around it. Their kitchen table, meanwhile, went largely unused — everyone preferred gathering at the island.

The homeowners wanted an updated kitchen with a more natural flow, along with a much larger island for everyday meals and entertaining. They also wanted to refresh other areas of the main level, including the flooring and staircase.

Design Process

The Custom Craft team reworked the layout for a more natural path through the kitchen. Moving the entrance to the dining room improved traffic flow, and removing the existing pantry closet made room for two tall cabinets flanking the refrigerator. The new oversized island gives the family the gathering space they wanted for daily meals and entertaining.

The range hood wall was designed with symmetry as a focal point. The cabinetry combines Legacy’s Hamilton door style in Origami white paint, with the island base and range hood finished in an Antique Barrel stain for warm contrast. MSI Calacatta Idillio quartz countertops pair with a TileBar Seaport tile backsplash in Chameleon, set in a vertical stack for added texture. Delta plumbing fixtures in champagne bronze and Top Knobs cabinet hardware in honey bronze complete the kitchen finishes.

9-inch Coretec LVP in Cairo Oak now runs throughout the first floor, and the staircase was refinished to match. The sliding door leading to the backyard was replaced with elegant French doors and a new transom window.

With the layout resolved and the first floor refreshed, the oversized island has become the heart of the space — built for everyday meals and entertaining alike.

"We'd put off a kitchen renovation for several years, dreading the process, but working with Custom Craft made the entire project so easy from start to finish that we wish we'd started sooner!"
